How long have you been working in home staging & interior design?
I started 12th State 5 years ago (this September) and have been working in the industry for over 13 years!!
What is one piece of advice you give to homeowners about staging their home?
My biggest piece of advice is that less is more! In order for buyers to see your home's best features, you need to de-clutter it as much as possible. This will also make the photos of your home less busy when there are just a few key pieces of furniture & decor.
What is one piece of advice you give to home owners about starting a design project?
Design is so personal - so don't get caught up in the latest trends and colors. Focus more on what makes you feel good, brings you joy and ultimately what will function best for you and anyone else living in the space!
What is your favorite part of the work you do?
I love the process of staging. Getting to come up with a vision in your mind that comes to life in one day is a very satisfying and fun part of the job! I also love building connections with my clients and seeing work relationships turn into friendships.
Favorite local restaurant?
It's very hard to pick just one in Durham, but for me it's a tie between Viceroy & M Pocha.
Favorite local place to visit on the weekends?
Love the Durham Farmer's market on a Saturday morning!
